Yousefi Happy With Latest Win, Zmyndak Talks “Chiller”, “Goldmine” And More

By KOTC Staff

Behrang Yousefi continued his winning ways at King of the Cage Canada’s “Chiller” card this past Saturday in Yellowknife, as the 145lb. fighter tapped out Marc Savoie with a first round triangle-choke. The Iranian born, Edmonton fighter has now recorded three straight wins since he began fighting professionally earlier this year.

“I'm happy with the win and my performance yet still feel there's so much left to be worked on,” said Yousefi, who trains out of the Pix Martial Arts in St. Albert, Alberta. “Marc held on as long as he could. I'm surprised he didn't tap when I went for the arm bar while I had the triangle on him. Hope to raise the bar next time.”

KOTC "Chiller": Victorious Zach Blaber Praises Elmer Waterhen

By KOTC Staff

Zach Blaber continued his winning ways this past Saturday at King of the Cage Canada’s “Chiller” card in Yellowknife, by earning a split decision victory over Canadian middleweight champ Elmer Waterhen in a 215lb catch-weight tilt. Although the win extended Blaber’s win streak to five and his overall record to 6-2, the surging fighter wasn’t overly thrilled with his latest performance.

“I did not have my best performance in there,” said Blaber. “I had trouble getting my timing and became very frustrated with myself. I think Elmer did a great job! He was unpredictable on his feet and slippery on the ground.”

Behrang Yousefi on Hunt for Third Straight Win at “Chiller”

By KOTC Staff

It’s been ‘so far so good’ in the young MMA career of Behrang Yousefi, as since the 23 year-old turned pro earlier this year with King of the Cage Canada, the Iranian born fighter has gone 2-0, scoring wins over JJ Daoust and Nick Smith. Up next, Yousefi will look to remain undefeated against KOTC newcomer Marc Savoie, at the promotion’s upcoming September 17th  card in Yellowknife, NWT.

“I think Marc is a great competitor and challenge based on the footage I’ve seen,” said Yousefi about Savoie, who is coming off a submission win over Chad Anheliger. “He’s got an anvil for a chin and great submissions.”

Canadian Welterweight Champ Garett Davis: “I’m Lucky To Be Alive”

By KOTC Staff

In July, King of the Cage Canadian Welterweight Champion Garett Davis was set to compete on the promotion’s “Brawl in the Mall 5” event in Edmonton, Alberta, until an extremely unfortunate turn of events forced the veteran to the sidelines.

“I was on my bicycle on my way home and I was t-boned by a car,” said Davis, who would have competed for the second time in 2011, after submitting Gabe Rivas at KOTC Canada’s “Mile Zero” event. “It was 4 days before I was scheduled to fight Danny "Dee-1" Davis Jr. in the main event for King of the Cage, "Brawl in the Mall 5".”
