Raphael Bergmann Excited and Ready to Defend Canadian Crown

It’s been over 18 months since Raphael Bergmann laid claim to the King of the Cage Canadian Heavyweight Championship, and after taking the title away from Adriano Bernardo last February, the 39 year-old vet is looking forward to defending the belt against Ryan Fortin on October 28th.

“I am very excited to get back in and have the cage door shut behind me,” said Bergmann, who worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Bernardo at KOTC Canada’s “Retaliation” card last year. “There's nothing that makes me feel more alive than that; this is as thrilling as it gets. It boggles the mind why illicit drugs exist, or golf for that matter. Sorry Uncle Lloyd (laughing).”

Ryan Fortin On KOTC Canadian HW Title: “I Want It Bad”

After taking out fellow heavyweight Logan Jarrell and more recently, MMA legend Dan Severn, Ryan Fortin has worked his into the fight that he wanted, a title bout with KOTC Canadian Champion Raphael Bergmann. The 26 year-old, Wetaskiwin fighter will look to secure the heavyweight belt around his waist on Friday, October 28th, when he takes on Bergmann at KOTC Canada’s “Gold Mine” card in Dawson Creek.

“This is something I have dreamed about and worked very hard for but was having trouble getting there,” said Fortin, who is planning to relocate to Fort Saint John to continue his MMA training as well as his career with Precision Drilling. “I met my manager in 2010 and he told me he could get me a shot at the belt if I really wanted, so when he called and told me it would be this soon, I was very excited.”

Updated Line-Up For "Goldmine"


Here is the updated line-up for King of the Cage Canada’s upcoming October 28th, “Goldmine” event, which will be hosted by Dawson Creek’s Encana Events Centre.

The card will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Canadian champion Raphael Bergmann and challenger Ryan Fortin.
