King of the Cage Canada returned to the Edmonton Events Centre this past weekend for the promotion’s fifth “Brawl in the Mall” card, which saw Elmer Waterhen take home the promotion’s Canadian Middleweight Championship by stopping Brad Stewart.

Here are the results from King of the Cage Canada’s “Brawl in the Mall 5” card last night in Edmonton, Alberta, which saw Elmer Waterhen stop Brad Stewart to become the Canadian Middleweight Champion.

Garett Davis Willing to Fight All Comers, Ready for July 16th

Although Canadian Welterweight Champion Garett Davis will be in action this Saturday at King of the Cage’s upcoming, July 16^th “Brawl in the Mall 5” event in Edmonton, Alberta, the veteran fighter’s belt won’t be on the line. As KOTC matchmaker Orest Zmyndak recently stated, finding Davis a Canadian opponent to challenge the fighter for his title has been tough going, and as a result, the Vancouver resident will face American Danny Davis.

“I guess it’s a bit of a compliment you know, that some of these guys don’t want to fight,” said Davis, when asked how he felt about the fact that for the second time in 2011, he will not be defending his Canadian championship. “At the same time I’m kind of ticked off with guys agreeing to fight and then pulling out...it’s really frustrating; to get a chance at a title and to not take it? It’s ridiculous.”

Troy Sorensen Looking to Get Back on Track July 16th

In March, Troy Sorensen was one win away from becoming King of the Cage’s Canadian Lightweight Champion, but the Canadian Combat Club fighter’s title aspirations were quickly halted by Chad Freeman, who stopped the veteran shortly into round one. For some, the loss may have been a tough experience to overcome, but for Sorensen it was just part of the sport that he’s grown to love.

“Chad hit me with a right hook behind the ear and I don't remember anything after that,” said Sorensen, who was awarded a shot at the KOTC Canadian lightweight belt after tapping out Kris Kucher at the promotion’s “Retaliation” event in February, 2010. “I've seen video, so I know the fight continued after that, but really, my body was just moving on muscle memory. I can't be too disappointed, I was caught with a great punch and that was the end of the fight. That's MMA.”
